107 Awards in 2021 for TRT Co-produced Films!

TRT co-produced films left their mark on national and international film festivals in 2021 with their success. TRT co-productions, which were deemed worthy of 107 awards from 171 festivals that they participated in in 2021, achieved great success.

TRT co-produced films won awards by competing in national and international film festivals in 2021, as in previous years. 31 films co-produced by TRT competed in festivals in 2021 and won a total of 107 awards in the national and international arena. Being a partner in quality films produced by experienced directors and young talents of Turkish cinema, TRT continues to support films in international and national festivals and distribution processes.

44 awards from the world’s major film festivals for TRT co-productions

Continuing their festival journey in the world’s leading film festivals, TRT co-produced films announced their success to the world by winning a total of 44 awards in international festivals in 2021. Films competing in important festivals such as “Cannes Film Festival”, “San Sebastian Film Festival”, “Locarno Film Festival”, “Karlovy Vary Film Festival”, “Tokyo Film Festival” and “Sarajevo Film Festival” have made their mark in international film festivals as well.

23 awards from national film festivals to TRT co-productions

TRT co-productions also deserved credit for their succes from Turkey’s leading film festivals. TRT co-production and competition with successful performances in “Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival”, “Bosphorus Film Festival”, “Istanbul Film Festival”, “Adana Golden Boll Film Festival”, “Malatya Film Festival” and “Ankara Film Festival” in 2021. TRT supported films won a total of 23 awards.

7 films co-produced by TRT made their world premieres in 2021

Being screened for the first time this year, 7 films competed in 45 festivals and won a total of 32 awards. TRT co-productions, which made their world premieres in 2021, include the films “Between Two Dawns”, “The Sacred Spirit”, “Wild Roots”, “Kodokushi”, “The Last Birds of Passage”, “Teacher” and “Corridor”. TRT co-productions in the script or editing stage, which have not yet premiered, were also featured on important platforms in Turkey and the world, and won various awards. Ten films; “Idea”, “Klondike”, “Hesitation Wound”, “11 Stars, Sun and Moon”, “Bars”, “A Hope”, “To Carnations a Song”, “Grace for Sale”, “Aqua Vita” and “Gulizar”, co-produced by TRT, participated in the co-production markets of 13 of the world’s major film festivals and received 8 awards.

TRT continued its cooperation with important festivals in Turkey and around the world in 2021

in Europe, and the “Bosphorus”, “Antalya” and “Istanbul” film festivals in Turkey. Bosnian director Aida Begic’s “A Balad” project won the TRT Award in the “Work in Progress” category of Cinelink, the industry section of the “Sarajevo Film Festival”, one of the most important festivals in Europe. The Slovak-Czechia-German co-production “Victim” directed by Michal Blaško won the “TRT Award” in the “Work in Progress” category of the industry section of the “Karlovy Vary Film Festival”, one of the most important film festivals in the world. The Swiss-German co-production ”A Piece of Sky“, directed by Michael Koch, won the ”TRT Award“ in the ”First Cut Plus” category.
