SYNOPSIS
Julie is a French woman whose father is a Christian Arab Syrian descent from Mardin. When her father Isa passes away she decides to go to Mardin and fulfill her father’s last wish; to spread his ashes over Mardin. When Julie arrives at Mardin, her uncle Salim mentions a land that he and Isa agreed on before he passed away. The truth of the matter is her uncle is in a financial bottleneck. Salim wants to sell the land and pay his debts. Isa’s ashes are tossed over Mardin as he wished. The same night family dinner is organized. Her younger uncle gets drunk and tells Julie about an aunt she has never heard of. A secret reveals. Back in the days in Mardin Isa fell in love with Necva’s sister-in-law Sara. Despite all of Ziad, Necva’s husband’s objections, they get engaged. After the engagement, he goes to France for education. The year Isa graduates, he sends a letter saying he has fallen in love with someone and he no longer wants Sara. She cannot bear this news and commits suicide. With the anger and sorrow of losing his sister, Ziad divorces Necva and sends her back to her father’s home. Despite all of her efforts Necva never sees her children again. Over the years she is ruined psychologically and in the end she develops lung cancer. After she learns of this new information about her family She wants to meet and visit her aunt Necva. Finally, Julie meets with Necva. Necva’s situation is getting worse. One day, she tells Julie of her final wish; She wants to be buried in Syria in the cemetery of the church. Necva passes away. Despite all of her efforts, she cannot fulfill her aunt’s last wish. Necva is buried in Mardin.
