Refika is an architect who accomplished opening the first crematorium in Turkey despite great difficulties. However, realizing her dreams caused her to face opposition from society. Apparently, there is no one except her wanting to be buried after death. When the news made the papers Refika’s only supporter dies of a heart attack. Now Refika has to deal with all the debts. Having a thin time, Refika starts blackmailing Halit who is a married and wealthy businessman but having an affair with Refika’s neighbor Belkıs. Belkıs lives with her dog. Refika wants financial support from Halit but when he refuses to help she implies that she is aware of his relationship with Belkıs. He surrenders and gives her the money with the condition that his name can not be mentioned as he is starting a political career soon. Relieved to find a solution for the financing Refika dwells on the publicity of the spiritual side of things: she asks her journalist friend with whom she just started a friendship to make news about the crematorium. When the name of her supporter is mentioned in the news Halit kicks her door down. Trying to save herself from his attacks she kills him. As a result of a chain of events now she is a murderer. To make this look like one of the murders of the Balat Monster, the serial killer in the city, she cuts a finger of Halit Ayrancı. Refika is on the verge of a breakdown. Her neighbor Belkıs has left the city. Her lost dog is now at her door. She takes the dog. They grow a bond now. She is attending the Halit Ayrancı spirit seances and struggling with the police investigations. Meanwhile, the news about building a school on the land of crematorium had also reached her. Refika is now concerned about the aftermath of the crematorium and herself.
