Countdown to 12 Punto 2024 Begins
The sixth edition of Turkey’s largest script development and co-production platform, “12 Punto 2024,” organized by TRT, is about to start. This year, 12 Punto 2024 will feature the “Palestinian Cinema Special Section,” showcasing current and significant films from Palestinian cinema. This year at 12 Punto 2024, current and important films of Palestinian cinema will meet with the audience in the “Palestinian Cinema Special Section”.
“12 Punto 2024” will take place from July 7th to 14th, with the participation of directors, producers, and film industry professionals from 29 different countries, bringing together some of the leading names in world cinema.
Leading Names in World Cinema at 12 Punto 2024
“12 Punto 2024” will once again host cinema professionals from all around the world. More than 40 filmmakers from 29 countries, including France, Italy, Qatar, Romania, Palestine, Ukraine, Montenegro, Greece, Spain, Netherlands, UK, Cambodia, Estonia, Georgia, Poland, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Kosovo, USA, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Germany, Belgium, Macedonia, India, Syria, Iran, Egypt, and Turkey, will gather at 12 Punto.
Within the scope of “12 Punto 2024,” masterclasses, panels, and presentations with the attendance of Oscar-winning directors, producers and executives from the global film industry will be held at Feriye Cinema in Beşiktaş. These panels, masterclasses, talks, and screenings will be open to the public and free. Panels, masterclasses, talks and screenings will be free and open to all.
“Focus on Palestinian Cinema” at 12 Punto 2024
This year at 12 Punto 2024, current and significant films from Palestinian cinema will meet audiences in the “Focus on Palestinian Cinema” section. The open-air film screenings, which usually feature TRT co-productions, will highlight Palestinian films and filmmakers this year. The event aims to raise awareness about the genocide in Palestine, foster empathy, and provide a platform for idea exchange. Palestinian directors, who will be guests of 12 Punto 2024 in Istanbul, will attend a Q&A session after the screenings of their films. As part of the “Focus on Palestinian Cinema” the films to be screened in open-air screenings include “Mediterranean Fever” by Maha Haj, “A Fidai Film” by Kamal Aljafari, “Wajib” by Annemarie Jacir, and “3000 Nights” by Mai Masri. The screenings will be open to the public and free.
What’s Happening at 12 Punto?
The filmmakers of the 12 finalist projects selected by pre-jury will meet world’s most important script consultants and develop their scripts during the “12 Punto 2024”, which will take place from July 7th to 14th for the sixth time this year. At the end of the 12 Punto week, the finalists will pitch their projects to a five-member international jury, including Oscar-winning directors and producers and top executives from international film industry organizations.
Three projects selected from the 12 finalists will receive the “TRT Co-Production Award,” three will receive the “TRT Pre-Buy Award,” and six will receive the “TRT Project Development Award.” The award ceremony on July 14th will be broadcast live on TRT 2. The winners of the “TRT Short Film Production Award” will also develop their scripts with leading screenwriters of within the scope of “12 Punto.”
“12 Punto Special Show” on TRT 2 Every Night
From July 7th to 14th, the “12 Punto Special Show” will air on TRT 2 every evening at 7:00 PM. The program will feature interviews with the finalists of “12 Punto 2024,” updates on the event, programs with film critics, interviews with award-winning directors and producers of Turkish cinema, and masterclasses.
