TRT co-productions and films supported by TRT will be compete at the “41st Istanbul Film Festival”. In the “National Competition” section of the festival, TRT co-productions “Klondike”, “The Last Birds of Passage” supported by TRT and “Together, We Shall Die” films, while the industry section of the festival, “Meetings on the Bridge”, TRT co-productions “Empire of the Rabbits”, “Bars” and “Hope” films will compete.

Organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) since 1982, the “Istanbul Film Festival” will be held for the 41st time this year between 8-19 April. In the “National Competition” section of the festival, TRT co-production “Klondike”, and “Together, We Shall Die” supported by TRT will compete for the Golden Tulip. The film “Together, We Shall Die” will also be screened in the “International Competition” section of the festival. “Meetings on the Bridge”, the industry section of the festival, will feature TRT co-productions “Empire of the Rabbits”, “Bars” and “Hope”. In addition, the “TRT Special Award” will be given to the best project this year, as every year, at the “Meetings on the Bridge Film Development Workshop”.

Award-winning TRT co-production “Klondike”, about the Russia-Ukraine crisis, at the Main Competition

Directed by Maryna Er Gorbach and produced by Mehmet Bahadır Er, the TRT co-production “Klondike” focuses on an event in the past of the current Russian-Ukrainian war. The film tells the story of Ira, a pregnant woman living on the Ukraine-Russia border, who does not leave her home despite the siege of her village by separatist groups. It will compete in the “National Competition” category, which is the main competition category of the Istanbul Film Festival.

“The Last Birds of the Passage”, supported by TRT competes for Golden Tulip and Best First Feature

“The Last Birds of Passage” supported by TRT will compete for the “Golden Tulip” grand prize in the “National Competition” category of the festival and the “Seyfi Teoman Best Debut Film Award” given in memory of director Seyfi Teoman who passed away in 2012. Directed by İffet Eren Danışman Boz and produced by Eyüp Boz, “The Last Birds of the Passage” tells the life of Sarıkeçili Yörüks, who have been continuing the nomadic culture in Anatolia for a thousand years. The film, which won the TRT Pre-Purchase Award in 12 Punto, held in 2019, had its world premiere at the 34th Tokyo Film Festival.

“Together, We Shall Die”supported by TRT, will compete in “National” and “International Competition”

Directed by Hakkı Kurtuluş and Melik Saraçoğlu and produced by Yamaç Okur, Aslı Erdem and Hakkı Kurtuluş, “Together, We Shall Die” supported by TRT will compete in the National and International Competition sections of the festival. The film, which won the TRT Pre-Buy Award, tells the passionate and destructive love story of Mazhar and Ece.

Three films co-produced by TRT will compete in “Meetings on the Bridge”

3 films co-produced by TRT were selected in the Work in Progress category, in which projects in the editing phase of “Meetings on the Bridge”, the industry section of the Istanbul Film Festival, compete. TRT co-production films; “Empire of the Rabbits” directed by Seyfettin Tokmak and produced by Zeynep Koray, and “Bars” directed by Orçun Köksal and produced by Arda Çiltepe, Kadir Doğulu and Orçun Köksal and directed by Orhan İnce, “Hope” produced by Burak Kanisicak will compete in “Meetings on the Bridge”.

TRT Special Award in “Meetings on the Bridge”

One of the 13 projects competing in the Meetings on the Bridge Film Development category, the industry section of the Istanbul Film Festival, will be awarded the “TRT Special Award” this year, as every year. “Meetings on the Bridge” will be held on 14, 15 and 16 April this year.
