TRT Co-production Films at Berlin Film Festival

Two films co-produced by TRT and supported by TRT will compete at the 72nd Berlin Film Festival, one of the most important film festivals in the world. In the main competition section of the festival, TRT supported “A Piece of Sky” competes, while TRT co-production “Klondike” takes place in the “Panorama” section.

The films that will take place in the Berlin Film Festival, one of the five most important film festivals in the world, have been announced. Two films co-produced by TRT and supported by TRT will compete at the Berlin Film Festival, which will be held for the 72nd time this year, between 10-16 February. In the main competition, TRT supported “A Piece of Sky”, and in the “Panorama” section, TRT co-production “Klondike” takes place.

The Swiss-German co-production TRT supported “A Piece from the Sky” will compete in the Berlin Film Festival Main Competition. The film, directed by Michael Koch and produced by Christof Neracher, was one of the 18 films selected for the Berlin Film Festival Main Competition Section, to which hundreds of films from all over the world apply each year. The film, telling about Anna and her husband Marco’s life in a remote and small village in Switzerland, and Marco’s falling ill due to a brain tumor and Anna’s efforts to keep love and romance on the road to death is the second feature film of the director. The film won the “TRT Award” in the First Cut+ category, where film projects in the editing phase compete at Eastern Promises, the industry section of the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, one of the world’s most prestigious film festivals, held for the 55th time last August.

TRT co-production “Klondike” will compete in the Panorama section

One of the strongest parts of the Berlin Film Festival; TRT co-production “Klondike” will compete in the “Panorama” section, which features the newest, bravest and the most creative films of today’s world cinema. The film, which will make its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in the coming days, will be screened at the Berlin Film Festival in February. The Ukraine-Turkey co-production film, which won the TRT International Co-Production Award in 12 Punto, realized in 2020, is directed by Maryna Er Gorbach and co-produced by Mehmet Bahadır Er. Starting with Ira, a pregnant woman living on the Ukraine-Russia border, who does not leave her home despite the siege of her village by separatist groups, “Klondike” is about Ira and her family finding themselves at the center of an international plane crash disaster on July 17, 2014.

Meet the Jury Members of 70th Berlin Film Festival

The names that will be in the Main Competition Jury of 70th Berlin Film Festival to be held between February 20 and March 1 have been announced.

Kenneth Lonergan, Bérénice Bejo, Kleber Mendonça Filho, Luca Marinelli, Bettina Brokemper, and Annemarie Jacir will accompany with Jeremy Irons in the Main Competition jury.

Last month, it was announced that Jeremy Irons would chair the Main Competition jury of the 70th Berlin Film Festival, which will be held from February 20 to March 1.

Fatma Çolakoğlu Will Also Take Part in The Short Film Jury

Abbas Amini, Jenna Bass, and Rima Das will take part in Kplus jury of the Generations section, where films for young people meet with cinema lovers; Marine Atlan, María Novaro, and Erik Schmitt will take part in 14plus jury.

Réka Bucsi, Fatma Çolakoğlu and Lemohang Jeremiah Mosese will take part in the jury of the international short film jury. Being one of the Turkey’s leading curators Fatma Colakoglu, moved to SALT in 2018 and held the position of Assistant Director of SALT Research and Programs after serving as Pera Museum Film and Video Programs Manager for 10 years.

The jury that will determine the winners of the documentary awards by evaluating the documentaries in the Main Competition, Berlinale Special, Encounters, Panorama, Forum, Generation, and Perspektive Deutsches Kino, will host Gerd Kroske, Marie Losier and Alanis Obomsawin.

Finally, Ognjen Glavonić, Hala Lotfy, and Gonzalo de Pedro Amatria will take part in the jury that will determine the winner of the “best debut” award.

The 70th Berlin Film Festival Awards will find their owners at a ceremony to be held in Berlinale Palast on February 29.
