5 Awards from Istanbul Film Festival to TRT Co-Productions

The awards were given to their owners at the 41st “Istanbul Film Festival” this year. TRT co-production “Klondike” won the “Best Film” and “Best Cinematography” awards, while TRT co-productions “Empire of the Rabbits” and “Bars”, which competed in the festival’s industry section “Meetings on the Bridge”, won a total of 3 awards throughout the night.

TRT co-production “Klondike” won the grand prize “Golden Tulip”

The TRT co-production “Klondike” directed by Maryna Er Gorbach and produced by Mehmet Bahadır Er won the “Best Film” and “Best Cinematography” awards in the “National Competition” category of the festival. The film, which tells the story of Ira, a pregnant woman living on the Ukraine-Russia border, who does not leave her home despite the siege of her village by separatist groups, won the grand prize “Golden Tulip”. Director Maryna Er Gorbach, who could not attend the night, conveyed her message after it won the “Best Film Award” and thanked the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and TRT for supporting the film in Turkey, saying that they dedicated the film to Ukrainian women fighting for the lives of children in the war.

3 awards for TRT co-productions in “Meetings on the Bridge”

TRT co-productions got 3 awards from the festival’s industry section “Meetings on the Bridge. In the category of “Work in Progress”, where projects at the editing stage compete, the movie “Empire of the Rabbits” won 2 awards, and the movie “Bars” won 1 award. The movie “Empire of the Rabbits” directed by Seyfettin Tokmak and produced by Zeynep Koray won the “Anadolu Efes Award” and the “mute.istanbul Foley Award”. The film “Bars” directed by Orçun Köksal and produced by Sinan Kesova won the “Daire Creative Visual Design Award”.

“TRT Special Award” given to “Lo-Fi” project

One of the 13 projects competing in the “Film Development” category of “Meetings on the Bridge”, the industry section of the Istanbul Film Festival, was awarded the “TRT Special Award” this year, as every year. In the “Film Development” category of “Meetings on the Bridge” held on April 14-16 this year, the “Lo-Fi” project directed by Alican Durbaş and produced by İpek Erden won the “TRT Special Award”.

Organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) since 1982, the “Istanbul Film Festival” will be held for the 41st time this year between 8-19 April. Directed by Maryna Er Gorbach and produced by Mehmet Bahadır Er, the TRT co-production “Klondike” focuses on an event in the past of the current Russian-Ukrainian war. The film tells the story of Ira, a pregnant woman living on the Ukraine-Russia border, who does not leave her home despite the siege of her village by separatist groups. “The Last Birds of the Passage”, supported by TRT competes for Golden Tulip and Best First Feature

“The Last Birds of Passage” supported by TRT will compete for the “Golden Tulip” grand prize in the “National Competition” category of the festival and the “Seyfi Teoman Best Debut Film Award” given in memory of director Seyfi Teoman who passed away in 2012. Directed by İffet Eren Danışman Boz and produced by Eyüp Boz, “The Last Birds of the Passage” tells the life of Sarıkeçili Yörüks, who have been continuing the nomadic culture in Anatolia for a thousand years. The film, which won the TRT Pre-Purchase Award in 12 Punto, held in 2019, had its world premiere at the 34th Tokyo Film Festival.

Directed by Hakkı Kurtuluş and Melik Saraçoğlu and produced by Yamaç Okur, Aslı Erdem and Hakkı Kurtuluş, “Together, We Shall Die” supported by TRT will compete in the National and International Competition sections of the festival. The film, which won the TRT Pre-Buy Award, tells the passionate and destructive love story of Mazhar and Ece.

TRT co-production “Klondike” directed by Maryna Er Gorbach won the “Best Director” award at the Sundance Film Festival, one of the 5 most important festivals in the world.

Awards found their owners at the Sundance Film Festival, organized by the Sundance Institute since 1981. TRT co-production “Klondike” won the “Best Director” award in the “International Competition” section of the festival, which was held online in the US state of Utah between January 20-30.

“Klondike”, which made its premiere at the “International Competition”, the main competition section of the Sundance Film Festival, where only 10 films from all over the world are selected each year, received the appreciation of the competition jury. TRT Co-production Films at Berlin Film Festival

Two films co-produced by TRT and supported by TRT will compete at the 72nd Berlin Film Festival, one of the most important film festivals in the world. In the main competition section of the festival, TRT supported “A Piece of Sky” competes, while TRT co-production “Klondike” takes place in the “Panorama” section.
