Finalists of “12 Punto 2022” Announced

12 Punto 2022, the biggest script development and co-production platform of Turkey, which will be organized for the 4th time this year by TRT, 12 projects that made it to the finals in the feature film category and the projects that won the “TRT Short Film Production Award”were determined.

The finalists of “12 Punto 2022”, which is the first and only project for the cinema industry in Turkey, have been determined. The preliminary jury, consisting of important representatives of Turkish cinema, evaluated the applicant projects and selected 12 feature-length projects to compete in the event. Young directors at the beginning of their careers and experienced filmmakers are among the 12 finalist projects determined by the preliminary jury. 6 of the projects that will compete at this year’s event consist of the directors’ first film project, and 4 projects are directed by female directors.

12 finalists selected from 134 feature film projects

TRT Short Film Production Award will be given to 12 projects among the short film project submissions. Award-winning project owners will be announced on April 12. In June, script development workshops will be held. The completed short films will be broadcast on TRT 2.

International co-productions in which Turkish producers are partners with low shares (minority co-productions) will also be able to apply for 12 Punto until February 12, 2022. The TRT International Co-Production Award paves the way for Turkish cinema to gain an international identity.

How does the submission process work for the feature projects in 12 Punto?

An independent pre-jury consisting of 5 members will select the 12 finalist projects among the submissions. The teams of the projects which made it to the finals will hold meetings with a world-renowned script and marketing consultants during the 12 Punto week which will be held in June. Then, they will present their projects to the international jury, which include the most important names of the international cinema industry.

Projects to be applied for 12 Punto must meet the submission requirements for “Feature film projects with a Turkish producer as the main producer”, “International feature film projects with a low share partner of a Turkish producer” and “Short film projects”. Submissions for feature film projects must be made by a production company, and there is no such requirement in the short film category.

The first feature film of director Selman Nacar, ”Between Two Dawns”, was highly praised by the festival jury. As a justification for awarding the film, the jury expressed their opinion by saying: “A film that makes you laugh, feel and surprise, which manages to tell a convincing story with its outstanding writing and directing skills. It is a mature film that is directed wisely, with dignity and reveals a new great talent.”.

The film, shot in four weeks in Uşak in July and August of 2019, is about the moral predicament that will affect the dreams, family and wife of the injured worker after a worker was injured in Kadir’s factory. The film will be screened at the 21st Eskişehir Film Festival and the 10th Malatya Film Festival in the coming days.
